Jennifer Sundt represents individuals in a wide variety of matrimonial and family law matters negotiating and resolving conflicts with the drafting of prenuptial, postnuptial, separation agreements and custody agreements. An experienced trial attorney, she has litigated cases involving issues of asset distribution, spousal support, child custody and access, relocation, child support and standing issues related to parental rights. Jennifer has also successfully handled numerous appeals and been recognized for her pro bono work in securing parenting rights for non-biological same sex parents.
Jennifer worked for the Hon. Ellen F. Gesmer, Associate Justice of the Appellate Division: First Department for two years when Judge Gesmer sat in the Supreme Court’s matrimonial part. Thereafter, she worked for two years as a court attorney for the Hon. Laura E. Drager, conferencing matrimonial cases with counsel to resolve issues and drafting decisions on motions, including a Decision of Interest which was published in the New York Law Journal.
Jennifer is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), as well as a member of the New York State Bar (NYSBA), the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York (WBASNY), the NY Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), the Texas Bar and the Houston Bar Association (HBA). Ms. Sundt has been recognized by Super Lawyers every year since 2020 and been named a Top Women Lawyer in Metro New York by Super Lawyers every year since 2023.
From the inception of her legal career, Jennifer has practiced exclusively in the area of matrimonial and family law, co-chaired family law committees and lectured regularly on issues of family law. She has also served as an Adjunct Law Professor, teaching Family Law at New York Law School.
Ms. Sundt resides in Texas and travels to New York regularly.
