David Kim focuses his practice on community association law and civil litigation in the South Florida region. He represents condominium and homeowner associations in transactional, operational, corporate, and litigation matters. He also handles construction defect claims for community associations, property owners, contractors, and subcontractors.
David started his legal career as an associate litigation attorney with a boutique firm in Boca Raton. There, he gained experience representing community associations, developers, unit owners, and real estate clients. Afterward, he joined a West Palm Beach firm as a litigator, handling a variety of civil and commercial legal disputes, focusing on first-party insurance defense and subrogation claims.
In 2016, David started his own boutique firm in Boca Raton with a partner, gaining additional experience representing community associations and other clients with issues pertaining to corporate and business, general commercial, and insurance matters.
Immediately prior to joining SSRGA, David served as General Counsel at Steel Commander Corp, a steel fabrication company. In this role, he was the chief legal advisor to the executive management team, establishing the company’s first in-house legal department. He negotiated multi-million-dollar contracts, managed the corporation’s litigation portfolio, and oversaw compliance and regulatory matters.
David earned his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he graduated summa cum laude. He earned his J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law, graduating in the top 20% of his class. Upon graduation, he clerked for the Office of the General Counsel, 17th Circuit of Florida.
Previously, David held leadership positions and was a member of various professional associations. At the South Palm Beach County Bar Association, he chaired the Real Estate, Land Use & Community Association Committee for several terms. He was also recognized as a Rising Star by Florida Super Lawyers in Business & Corporate Litigation in 2019 and 2020.
