David Abramovitz is Senior Counsel in the firm. For over 30 years, Mr. Abramovitz has been committed to providing thoughtful counsel to and zealous advocacy on behalf of owners, condominium and cooperative boards, developers, design professionals and contractors across the range of transactional, governance and dispute resolution matters. Mr. Abramovitz advises clients throughout each stage of projects, from planning and contract negotiations to risk management, litigation, dispute resolution and post-completion matters. Mr. Abramovitz has a depth of experience in residential, multifamily, mixed-use, and infrastructure projects, as well as commercial construction projects such as offices, hospitality structures, educational facilities, data centers, and museums, including the 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York City and the Perez Art Museum in Miami.
Mr. Abramovitz has represented clients ranging from individual homeowners to some of the most prestigious and forward-thinking firms in the real estate and construction industry in negotiations and before trial, appellate and ADR tribunals throughout the United States. From local projects requiring a license to access and protect neighboring property, to building repairs and renovations to large projects owned by government-controlled entities, Mr. Abramovitz’s decades of industry and professional knowledge and experience allow him to help clients effectively navigate a multitude of legal issues and to achieve successful results.
Mr. Abramovitz has written and been quoted in multiple trade publications and has lectured before industry groups, including the American Institute of Architects (AIA), AIA New York State, the Associated General Contractors of New York, and in continuing legal education courses and webinars concerning legal issues relevant to the development, design, and construction industries, including design-build issues, integrated project delivery systems (IPDs), contracts, and licensure issues.
Mr. Abramovitz previously served as Associate General Counsel to the New York State chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and served as a board member of the Friends of the John T. Wright Arena, a non-profit that raised funds to support a publicly-owned ice skating rink and provide programming for underprivileged youth.
Mr. Abramovitz is a graduate of Yale University (B.A. ’89) and Georgetown University Law Center (J.D. ’92). He is admitted to practice law in New York State and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
