Allison Kapner concentrates her practice in family law, handling a variety of matters including marriage dissolutions, custody disputes, paternity actions, post dissolution modifications and enforcements, child support, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, and child dependency cases.
She started her legal career in 2000 working with her father, Lewis Kapner, a retired judge and respected former chief judge of the Palm Beach Circuit Court, who went into private practice after leaving the bench. They practiced together for 15 years, and soon after merging their practice with another West Palm Beach firm, Allison struck out on her own providing contracted legal services to family lawyers throughout the county.
Allison later accepted a position as a senior attorney with the Florida Department of Children and Families, representing the State by advocating for the best interests of Florida’s children in dependency proceedings. After nearly five years in that role, she accepted a position with Schwartz Sladkus Reich Greenberg Atlas LLP’s South Florida office in its family law division.
Allison earned her undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Southern California, where she was a member of its world renowned marching band. She earned her J.D. from Southwestern Law School, which at the time, was the only two-year law program approved by the American Bar Association.
She is a past president of the Palm Beach County Bar Association Young Lawyers Section and a past member of the organization’s board of directors and executive committee.
A second generation native Floridian and longtime resident of Lake Worth, Florida, Allison enjoys thrifting and collecting vintage items related to America’s manufacturing history as well as local Florida history, such as vintage Pyrex® dishes and vintage Coach bags (both companies started their manufacturing in New York), and vintage Lilly Pulitzer clothing.
